Have you met my nephew? His name is Jesus.
Favorite Line : "You drink that drink! Alcohol has been a social lubricant for thousands of years. What do you think, you're going to sit here tonight and reinvent the wheel?"
HEHEHEHE that's funny sh*t!
Roger Dodger was a complete surprise for me. My Saved By The Bell obsession is the only reason I picked this film up, simply because Jesse Spano otherwise known as Elizabeth Berkley was in it.
It follows a womanizer named Roger who has an unexpected visit from his nephew who wants him to teach him more about women and the art of getting in their pants before he goes off to college. This film supports its plot by nothing other then some great character development and brilliant dialogue. Do not go into it expecting any great nudity, sex scenes or action.........but be prepared to hear several one liners that you will want to remember and some very interesting conversations that are all too real.
Campbell Scott plays Roger, I don't really know him for anything else but he is very talented.......I compare his performance in this movie easily as good or better as Jack Lemmon's performance in Glengarry Glen Ross. Which if you know the film at all you know that its strictly dialogue and nothing more. There is also a very strong performance from Jesse Eisenberg which plays the younger nephew Nick......I know he has been in some other big films such as The Village and The Emperor's Club.....he is for sure going to be a rising star.
I was surprised, I had never heard of this film before I picked it up, its a great all around film and if your like me and care about Elizabeth Berkley then you get to see a nice 20-25 minutes of her playing a pretty cool part which she excels at!
