Movie Review by Jesse
January 4th, 2007

A terrific prequel to the best horror film ever

A terrific edition to the Silence of the Lambs series. Dr. Hannibal Lecter is shown more naturally in this film than the others. We see him as an actual human being at first and then how he transforms into a blood-thirsty cannibal.

Edward Norton is fantastic as always and Ralph Fiennes is incredible as the serial killer, Francis Dolarhyde (aka 'The Tooth Fairy'). A terrific cast with amazing performances from Fiennes and Emily Watson. The scenes are just as mysterious as the original Silence, but something isn't quite as intriguing about this one.

I think the one thing that is wrong with this film is that not too much time is spent with one single character. There are too many characters to be focused on in this film. In The Silence of the Lambs, we only had two main characters to focus on and the character development was impeccable. In this film, the characters are great (as are the performances), but they aren't shown for long enough and we don't get to know them as well.

Other than that, the story is terrific and this is one great addition to the series (even though it is a prequel to The Silence).

I recommend this film to everyone. Great acting, great story, great cinematography and amazing editing. A whole package that will please you, guaranteed.
