Movie Review by Mark
August 3rd, 2008

Chosen ones rejoice!

Favorite Movie Quote: "I'm a big boy, i pee standing up!"

You'd really have to be a kung fu movie fanatic to begin to tolerate the movie. Then you'd have to be a glutton for obscure humor to like the movie. Watch it three or four times and you might just fall in love with it.

Based on the low budget 1976 film, Savage Killers, Kung Pow delivers funny line after line. Sure it's stupid. Dumb and Dumber was stupid. Ace Ventura was stupid, but they were funny. Kung Pow is no different... if you love kung fu movies.

The amount of side splitting one liners/moments is rivaled only to the Austin Power movies. Such as:

" What do you get when you cross an owl with a bungee chord... My ass!"
" I am bleeding, making me the victor!"
" Gopher chucks, i need you!."
" Let me know... if you see... a radio shack."

Guys making bird calls in the brush, "cacaaw, cacaaw." Betty, "Birdie... birdie."
The delay in the dog's barking because his voice was dubbed to.
Of course the hilarious parts when the chubby Asian guy in the background starts playing 80's hip hop music to go with the fight scenes.

PROS:
Finally, a real spoof on kung fu movies. Jokes that we "in the know" get. The dvd was loaded with bonus features, the voice overs were hillarious, and it's a movie that just gets better each time you watch it. Steve Oedekerk... you're the man.

CONS:
Very obscure humor. Only appeals to those of us who love kung fu movies from the 60's and 70's.
