Movie Review by Chris
June 20th, 2008

A man who is scheduled to be executed for stealing 200 million dollars in gold, asks to see another inmate named Sasha; it seems that several months ago when the FBI raided the place where Sasha was, he was shot and was dead for a few minutes. Now the man wants to know Sasha's experience before he goes. Before the execution can be carried out some men storm the prison and demand that the man tell them where he hid the gold, which he has never revealed. But in the process of breaking into the prison, they allow some of the inmates to be released. And led by Sasha, they try to stop them.

There is a point in an actors career when you must say no to a movie, certainly one as bad as Don Micheal Paul's Half Past Dead. Starring Steven Seagal and Ja Rule, there is nothing good about this movie. It's the kind of film where you wonder what kind of drug the director was on during production of the movie. Half Past Dead seems to not even try on how bad or good this movie is, or does it try to hard? The script is beyond horrible, the acting is some of the worst I have ever seen and the story and action scenes lack so much that the movie is just empty.

I would be embarassed if I was a big name actor such as Steven Seagal to even show up to the premiere of this film. I wonder what was going through the directors mind when, at the premiere, people were throwing their food at the screen even before the credits rolled up. Half Past Dead tried to be a modern film, meaning it added the latest rock and rap songs to the soundtrack to try and make the movie seem cooler then it really was. Steven Seagal's acting was really stereotypical as he seemed to mimic Ja Rule, his walk and his talk.

The action of Half Past Dead is really pathetic. I think someone needs to call Micheal Bay for lessons. The action was fake, it was pathetic and the beyond horrible directing really blow everything out of proportion. The movie seems to set up sort of a story but fails because the script was written horribly.

I dont like writing short reviews but this movie was so bad it deserves one. The film gets one half past dead star out of 5.
