Movie Review by Jessica Film Junkie
March 5th, 2007

Post-Irony Classic

Charlie Kaufman is the most inspired screenwriter working today. Nevermind the direction by the best-in-the-business Spike Jonze ('Being John Malkovich' as well as a plethora of commercials and music videos, most notably the majority of Weezer and Fatboy Slim's videos). 'Adaptation' follows the screenwriter Charlie Kaufman (Nicholas Cage in his best performance since 'Leaving Las Vegas') who is struggling to not compromise his beliefs while writing a script adaptation of "The Orchid Thief" while his twin brother (also Cage) hits mainstream success with his own toss off idea. This film, like all Kaufman's, is impossible to explain and has been severely misunderstood by many people who do not understand its meta-ironic conclusion. Trust me in this film's brillance and its ability to stay with you for years.
