A gritty real teen flick
This is a very interesting movie that I had heard a lot about but never bothered to watch until now. The cast are all real NYC teens with little or no acting experience, this lends the film to a more natural tone. You never feel that slick roll-off-the-tongue tendency of Hollywood films, instead these are raw real people. The film centres around the title character and his struggle within his peers, his family and himself to be respected. Unlike so many teen movies, this film is honest and real. A true find.
