What would you do for your kid?

Favorite Movie Quote: "John Q. Archibald: My son is dying, and I'm broke. If I don't qualify for Medicare, WHO THE HELL DOES?"

I think the quote says it all. We all know how difficult it is to have some major medical expenses that we can't cover. If you haven't had that, maybe you know someone that needs a surgery or some medical treatment that costs more than they have or that isn't covered by their insurance. I know I've hit that brick wall before...trying to get that gastric bypass surgery and having my insurance company say that it's cosmetic even after my doctor told them it was a life or death situation.

This is a heroic story of a man that just wants what is best for his son. Needing a serious surgery, like a heart transplant, and not being able to pay for it is a difficult thing to come to terms with...especially when it's your child that needs the surgery. John Q takes it to the next level by going in at gunpoint to demand his son's surgery and in the process make a stand about the outrageous medical system and the costs. His 'hostages' become friends and even think he's a hero by the time the ordeal is over.

This movie had me on the edge of my seat and also in tears. If you haven't seen it I highly suggest you check it out. With all the talk of the mother daughter relationship lately I thought this movie showcased the father's emotional connection as well. Denzel is perfect in these types of movies and I think you'll really enjoy it if you give it a shot.
