Normally I prefer salt, but I like this Pepper
Barry Pepper first stood out to me in SAVING PRIVATE RYAN when he played the sharp shooter who would quote bible verses when he was killing people. He's never acheived a great level of success, but every movie that I've seen him in, he's always at the top of his game, far surpassing the bigger names around him.
It was a plus for me to watch this movie when Vin Diesel, Seth Green and John Malcovich were also in it. Buried on the shelves at the movie studio because it was unclear how to market the movie, they decided to roll it out after THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS made Diesel an overnight success, even though this movie was made far before that.
The acting is the main reason to watch this movie. It's all top notch and even Diesel is working it to the maximum of his minimal abilities. The story is another offshoot of mafia life and the way that things get run from within, nothing new.
It's worth watching as a diverting, entertaining action flick. And sometimes that's all we need.

| I think Vin Diesel is a good action/mafia type...even though it's so obvious that he's covering up his homosexuality by trying to be a badass...he's nice to look at still. :) |
