Loveable Ogre

Ah, the original!

What a shocker it was when it came out, how funny and original!

They take the plethora of children's fables and fairy tales and utilize them for the story of an unlikeable ogre who gets suckered into saving a princess who has a lot more in common with him than he would like to think.

Eddie Murphy pretty much steals the show as Donkey, the side-kick. He is as funny as he has ever been and he keeps the film from being too sappy.

I am not a big fan of the animation style, it still has a long way to go, but this is a funny movie that will continue to be a favorite of many for many years.
