Average for a Fat Girl

There were people who were supremely offended by the concept of this movie even before seeing it. Much like those who got up in arms over the movie THE RINGER (which according to some I should have been riled up about since I work with individuals with developmental disabilities), they assumed that the subject matter was going to be used solely for sick humour fodder.

This isn't the case. If anything, the directors who brought us such gross out humour as what was showcased in DUMB & DUMBER have toned it down. I suppose they were afraid to go that extra mile and really say what they thought about fat and ugly people. They could have done a lot worse damage and I give them less credit for at least trying to offend a little more.

The movie has some great moments, one of which features a good looking woman who is perceived in the afflicted Black's eyes to be a tarted up elderly woman (the one who played the decrepid old boss on the Drew Carrey show). I also liked that not only did Black see the women as being prettier or uglier on the outside due to their insides, but he also sees men in a different light as well.

The humour just wasn't high enough for me to get me to enjoy it more. I liked the thought behind making the movie, but that thought just doesn't carry it beyond being an average comedy.

I love Jack Black...as we've established by now...and since I am phat I thoroughly enjoyed this flick, because they made us fat girls a happy ending and gave everyone a good laugh while doing that. :)

I think it's funny that Jason Alexander's character has a tail and yet he's grossed out by his hot girlfriend's longer second toe...too funny.
