Mess with the bull, take two
I like this movie. I didn't love it, it isn't great, but I genuinely liked it.
A sendup of all the teen movies that have been released over the last 25 years, it manages to hit on the favorite bits that everyone loves from different flicks. The transcendent moment from AMERICAN BEAUTY with the simple beauty of a floating plastic bag is mocked throughout the film. The joke of anyone believing that Drew Barrymore was in high school for NEVER BEEN KISSED. The humble earnestness of Chris Klein's character from AMERICAN PIE. It's all in there.
Best yet, Jaime Pressly is in there. Having toiled away in movie after movie after crappy ass movie, Jaime is finally earning some cred as Jason Lee's former wife on My Name is Earl. Thing is, the girl has precise comic timing and with the arch of one eyebrow can have me in stitches. She's underappreciated and overlooked for her sheer tenencity in wanting to be successful. I give her all kinds of props.
Especially when her character is making fun of Kirsten Dunst, someone who always gets credit and usually doesn't turn in a performance any better than Jaime's. Ooooo... I brought it!!
