Movie Review by Misty

Fan-freakin'-tastic!

I'm sorry, but I love this movie with every fiber of my being.

What a strange way to start a review, huh? Moulin Rouge is not for everyone. I've heard of several people who got completely lost while watching this flick. I love the musical aspect the most, I think. This movie is set in the late 1800's, but has no shame in including music that didn't come out until almost a century later.

Ewan McGregor is marvelous as the playwrite and I absolutely fell in love with the burlesque type of atmosphere. Of course I couldn't resist the charm of McGregor as he sang the Elton John hit "Your song".

It's a fun movie that does have some depth and great characters including John Leguizamo. I definately recommend renting this one...as for me...it will be on my shelf at home very soon!

Ok, will you still love me if I say that I just didn't understand the appeal? Every time I admit that to the fans, they tend to react all Ally McBeal style on me and freak out.

It's an OK movie in my opinion. I just didn't see it as a classic like other musicals.

I'd still love you if you told me you hated it, sweetie. People have different tastes and I'm not one to judge you on what kinds of movies you like or dislike.

You're right about it not being a classic like other musicals though...it was more silly I think, but the song...and even Ewan McGregor's voice just got me hooked. Plus John Leguizamo is freakin' hilarious. I don't know why, but I love that man.
