Jim Carrey owes me nine bucks
Oh woe is me. What a piece of crap.
How the hell did Jim Carrey go from wacky, zany funny guy to dull and boring? How is that possible, well lets just ask the writer of the toilet bowl splash called "The Majestic". The movie is about a screenwriter in the 1940s who gets amnesia, and ends up in a different town where the townspeople mistake him as a war hero that never came home from the war. Sounds like a pretty good premise for some made for TNT film, but believe me, this actually went in the theaters. And who better to lead this rubbish than funny man Jim Carrey! The man who made us laugh and give us such great catch phrases over the years. But, alas... you will hear no funny catch phrases here. There will be no wacky screaming, silly voices, or lovable characters. Nope. In this masterpiece you get to see Jim Carrey do such mind boggling talented things such as build a movie theater, run a movie theater, take tickets at a movie theater, stand around and not be funny, and hang around an old decayed Martin Landau who is so stupid he mistakes a total stranger for his own son! Hey yeah, maybe he looks a little like your son, but don't you think a parent who raised a child would be able to identify that child no matter how long the kid was a war? But hey, don't sweat it. If Martin Landau doesn't sell that he believes it's his son right away, he's got nearly 3 hrs to do it in. Every time I thought the movie was just about to end, another act began. When the movie finally did end (I won't give away the ending, not because I want it to be a surprise, but just because it pissed me off so bad that repeating it could cause me to have a nervous breakdown and possibly injure people.) I left feeling upset, angry, exhausted, and cheated. Don't get me wrong, the movie did have it's good points, like the ending credits, but overall I would recommend this movie to people I really hate, or possibly murderers in prison to make their suffering sweeter.
If anyone who hasn't already seen it is planning too, take my advice... grab the DVD, break it in half, and jab the sharp end into your jugular vein. You'll get pretty much the same feeling. And it won't take 3 hours.
