The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra (2001)

I'm a scientist: I don't believe in anything!
This has to be one of the best movies ever made. It takes low-budget and indie to new levels. Since it is a loving homage/parody to stilted and starched sci-fi/horror films of the 50's, special pains had to be taken to make sure nothing looked good, and that the acting was terrible.
Larry Blamire writes, directs, and co-stars as Dr. Paul Armstrong, a scientist searching for a piece of Atmospherium that has fallen from the sky. He needs to do some science on it, to hopefully further advance the field of science. Along for the ride is his faithful wife, Betty (Fay Masterson), who is married to a scientist. So, you might say that makes her a scientist's wife.
Unbeknownst to them, but knownst to us, Dr. Robert Fleming (Brian Howe), is also on the hunt for the meteor, which he needs to bring the titular skeleton back to full life. Which is an odd prospect, seeing how the skeleton has nothing but contempt and insults for the wanker.
Meanwhile, Kro-Bar and Lattis (Andrew Parks and Susan McConnell) have crashed landed on this planet, Earth, which is like their own planet, Marva, except a different planet entirely. Believe it or not, they, too, need the Atmospherium to power their ship and get home. But wait! Their mutant has escaped!
If this all isn't enough for you, Fleming comes upon the aliens' caulking gun, er, I mean Transmutatron, and assembles a collection of animals into a date, whom he dubs Animala (Jennifer Blamire, Larry's wife).
All the parties end up converging, and a park ranger (Dan Conroy) is thrown in for good measure. You can just call him Ranger Brad, everyone does.
Eventually the skeleton and mutant have a battle to the death. But not before there is a fight scene, and numerous dancing scenes, and extended ambulatory skeleton action scenes.
Basically, if you don't see this movie you're an a**hole.

| You and my dad? Yeah... I think you might actually be his, based solely on the basis of your movie affections. |

Ask him if he has seen any clips from Blamire's next film, Trail of the Screaming Forehead. I'm as excited for that as I am for Bubba Nosferatu :)
