Movie Review by Zara
March 10th, 2007

Go ahead, Jeff. Hate me.

This is a damn cute movie. And it manages to make a hero out of a blonde bimbo.

I hate when people wonder why Paris Hilton is so popular and then admit that they like this movie. People both love and despise blondes at the same time, causing a strange existence in this world. It seems that everyone is ok with a blonde being popular as long as she's someone like Reese Witherspoon or... um... some other blonde.

Yet as a nation we also seem to despise dumb blondes from coming up and getting a lot of attention, especially if they're doing it while wearing something skimpy. Essentially we are a nation of Selma Blair characters, frumpy and serious in our Harvard clothing and old mentalities. And much like she was eventually won over, so were we as an audience.

There are people who really do hate this movie and what it represents, but honestly? It's a cute movie with a sharp star. If follows the old outline of having the "underdog" triumph in the end. While the privileged Elle Woods really should never be thought of as the underdog, she is and she does manage to come out on top. Who can resist something like that?

Well, not me. LEGALLY BLONDE remains one of those movies that I will watch if I'm flipping channels and it happens to be on.
