Movie Review by Mitch
August 22nd, 2006

This may turn out to be an unfair review because I love all of Kevin Smiths work. We watch this movie at least once a month (usually intoxicated). So I guess I will just sing praises about him for making an extremely fun dick and fart joke film. The plot is pretty simple. Jay and Silent Bob find out that there is a movie being made of the comic book that they are the basis for and people are talking sh*t about them on the website http://www.moviepoopshoot.com/ (go ahead, it's a real site!). They decide to go to Hollywood and get their movie check or stop the flick from being made. All kinds of crazy sh*t happens on the trip.

On a side note Judi and I went to New York for our 5th wedding anniversary in 2004. On our way home we made a slight detour to Red Bank, NJ. Which if you are a fan, know to be the home place of Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash. Which in the film is Brodies Secret Stash- They just changed the sign. While there I picked up an autographed copy of the film on DVD saw the Bluntmobile and more props from his films. They gave us directions to the actual Quick Stop/RST Video stores! So we headed to Leonardo, NJ to get some pictures, (see picture page on my MySpace profile).

Back to the review. This movie parodies a ton of popular movies. From Goodwill Hunting to Star Wars, including The Fugitive, Charlie's Angels, James Bond, Batman, E.T., Scooby-Doo, and the whole Scream franchise. A lot of cameos too. Not including the regular bunch of guys/girls who show up in almost every KS film there are Judd Nelson, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Jules Asner, Steve Kmetko, Tracy Morgan, Gus Van Sant, Jamie Kennedy, Wes Craven, Morris Day, James Van Der Beek, and Sean Williams Scott.

If you have seen this film before, watch it again. This time pay close attention to Silent Bob. Hilarious! We get intoxicated, sit back and listen to Jay and watch Silent Bob's reactions. That's worth it all by itself. Some of the best parts are when different characters stop everything and look directly at the audience, usually after some slightly insulting comment about the integrity of the audience. Examples

1- Ben Affleck says "Who would pay to see a Jay and Silent Bob movie?" Then they all turn and stare at the camera.
2- Will Ferrell says “Sounds like something out of a bad movie." And then looks at the camera.
3- Affleck again. Says something about this film being a payback picture because your friend says you owe him and again, they all look at the camera.

All in all a hilariously pointless movie that I would recommend to everyone except my parents.

Best lines:

"Say, would you like a chocolate covered pretzel?"

"Affleck was the bomb in Phantoms!"

"Get off my Kool-Aid motherf*cker!"

"Nights like this I miss dating a lesbian."

And last but definitely not least, “Don't f*ck with a Jedi Master son."

Till the next flick,

Mitch
