Movie Review by Zara

More credit than it should get

I hate movies that try to cater solely to the heart string aspect of what it's like living, working and loving people with developmental disabilities. I have a vast history with this and know bullsh*t when I see it. This movie is PURE bullsh*t in that regard.

I won't give it a low rating though and I'll explain why. If you watch the extras on the DVD you'll learn that the actors didn't just make up their characters. The people involved in the movie went and worked at a day program with people with various disabilities and learned the unique tics that they have.

In that regard, I will give the movie credit. The actors really do give a sh*t and have done a FANTASTIC job representing different aspects of disabilities, not just the most obvious ones.

The story about his daughter getting taken away is sheer crap. The foster family who wants to adopt her is sheer crap. Even the scene at the shoe store where they all ask for balloons is sheer crap.

It was all geared to get people who have no clue what life with people with disabilities is like to have sympathy and compassion for them. It's BULLsh*t and I'm calling it out on that.

The soundtrack f*cking ROCKS though. I hate that the soundtrack rocks. I hate that I can't find Eddie Vedder's song on any profile on Myspazz.

Anyhow, this is longer than I intended it to be since I was supposed to be proving a point with the reviewing as of late.
