Movie Review by Tim

Is this Clarice? Why, hello Clarice.

Favorite Movie Quote: "On a similar note I must confess to you, I'm giving very serious thought... to eating your wife."

I liked this installment better then Silence Of The Lambs. I really think Hannibal Lector is a brilliant character, and Anthony Hopkins really brings him to life so it was nice to see more of the character then from behind bars.

I also thought that Julianne Moore was a much better then Jodie Foster and what's funny is I get those two confused all the time when I'm thinking about other movies that one or the other has been in. They are a really good match especially when replacing an actor for the same character that someone has played.

I found that the relationship that Lector had built for Clarice was really intriguing, you could tell he liked her in the first film but it was really interesting how he didn't cut her hand off at the end and how well he took care of her after she had been shot. I wanted to see them hook up so bad even though they are TOTAL opposites...that would have been cool for an F.B.I, agent to start having relations with the serial killer that she has been tracking for 10 years.

Ray Liotta was good although he played a real dickhead in the film that you love to watch eat his own brain.

The shocker of the damn year award goes to the fact that the crippled / disfigured man in the wheelchair whose name is Mason Verger is actually played by Gary Oldman. I had no idea that Oldman was even in the movie, much less that he had a large role and you never can tell by his appearance or accent that its him. I read that there was a little bit of a disagreement with Oldman's name not being credited with Moore's and Hopkin's so Oldman asked to be uncredited for quite some time.

Also Frankie Faison (who stars along side of Rene Russo a good bit) is the only actor that has been in all 4 Hannibal Lector films. He played Lieutenant Fisk in Manhunter and played Barney the hospital orderly in The Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal and Red Dragon.

Also the mansion that is used as Mason Verger's home is the Biltmore Estate located in Asheville, North Carolina. Asheville is only about 2 hours from where I live and I think when I was a kid that I took a field trip to that house but I don't remember anything about it.

Yeah I didnt totally mind the fact that "Clarice" was being played by Moore, she fit nicely. The heart and soul of the character was still preserved.

To Live and Die in L.A. Not that you deserve that movie. Or Silence. Liked this installment better...sheesh... ;)
