Once again, Stiffler rules

That is, this is a flick where Seann William Scott does an excellent job and just doesn't get his due.

A film meant to mock some of the more serious sci-fi flicks that were saturating the market, EVOLUTION is fun to watch because Duchovny was such a big star on the X-Files when this was released. Most people don't give him credit for being able to pull of tongue-in-cheek characters so well and assume that he's being serious when he's acting. This was supposed to be his shot at showing people (though a movie billed obviously as a comedy) that was exactly what he was doing.

But I was still charmed by Scott, an actor who hadn't become completely tainted by the character of Stiffler at the time. He utters a famous call in this flick, a simple bird call sounding "Caw-Caw! Caw-Caw!" If you can name the other movie that he does this in as well, you're just as big of a dork as I am.

Julianne Moore is also cute as the clumsy scientist scheduled to work with Duchovny. She's so well known for being an actress in serious roles that I think people overlook just how good she is in comedies. This is a chance to check her out and what she's capable of.
