Movie Review by Seth
February 28th, 2006

I just watched this movie again for the who knows how manyth time. It's still as good as ever.

I am a fan of the small things in movies, and this movie has about as many as I can ever remember seeing. From perfectly capturing Amelie's inside jokes with other characters that no one sees, to the sound of a rock she drops into her pocket hitting other rocks that she's obviously collected throughout the day.

And as much as I'm in love with Audrey Tautou, this movie does not rest on her alone. Other characters, such as the "glass man," the grocer's assistant, and the failed writer in the cafe make sure that this film carries it's depth even when Tautou's big eyes are not on the screen.

I am curious as to who did the subtitles for this movie, because you don't miss a beat by it not being in english. There are many plays on words in the film (young Amelie miss-pronouncing a word, a quiz of popular expressions) and they all work perfectly. So kudos to whoever took the time to translate this one correctly.

This movie makes me smile every time I watch it. It inspires me to be a filmmaker, it inspires me make the most out of life. You cannot ask for more from a movie.
