Movie Review by Zara
December 10th, 2007

Two thumbs up? Seriously, was that during the time that Ebert was in the hospital or something? (I never pay any attention to that other a**hole that they replaced Siskel with.)

I'd like to say that I enjoyed the movie. I have a soft spot for settler stories, even thinking that FAR AND AWAY was a cool flick. But this movie was more barren and hollow than Condoleeza Rice's womb.

Sarah Polley, normally charming, looks pained to be saying silly lines, having a meaningless role and acting in the manner which goes firmly against any of the characters that I've seen her portray in the past.

Wes Bentley was obviously only (vaguely) interesting in AMERICAN BEAUTY. His character is so depthless that I swear you could have picked him up and torn him in two like a piece of school notebook paper.

Mila... is still pretty, even without make-up. But sorry, girl. You still can't act. Leelo Dallas, Multipass was your highlight, babe.

I'll give the movie credit for roping in the otherwise talented Frank Cottrell Boyce to help co-write the script and for the stunning locations and cinematography.

But other than that, this was an emotional and intellectual ghost town.

Leeloo: Leeloo Dallas mul-ti-pass.
Korben Dallas: Yeah.
Leeloo: Mul-ti-pass.
Korben Dallas: Yeah, multipass, she knows it's a multipass. Leeloo Dallas. This is my wife.
Leeloo: Mul-ti-pass.
Korben Dallas: We're newlyweds. Just met. You know how it is. We bumped into each other, sparks happen...
Leeloo: Mul-ti-pass.
Korben Dallas: Yes, she knows it's a multipass. Anyway, we're in love.
