Jungle Lovin', had me a blast...
Sorry, I just couldn't help myself.
I really like this movie for the underlying implications. While it caters to a great deal of basic stereotypes as perceived by a mostly white and Jewish Hollywood conglomerate, there is still a raw honesty to it. Willing to go further with the interracial romance than other movies (FINDING FORRESTER is one that comes to mind), they strip the characters of their race while pointing it out at every turn at the same time.
Sean Patrick Thomas is a strong actor, one who gets too little work in my opinion. It also cracked me up that he was 31 (yes, you read that right) when he was cast to play an 18 year old. I like to call him the black Ralph Macchio.
Much better than the slew of urban romance movies that followed it, this has good people, a fairly strong script and an ending that is sweet enough to please the people who might be disturbed by seeing the lily white Stiles kissing Thomas.
Yay! Um... I had... um. Yeah, that's it.
