Actually rather bizarre for a classic

I find it hard to critique older movies. Mainly it's because they were always cast and directed like they were stage plays instead of looking like something realistic. Classic movies don't have the feel of even the more recent stupid unrealistic '80's comedies.

This movie is a favorite of my grandmother's and she forced me to sit through it when I was a kid. She actually forced me to sit through quite a few movies, but the only ones that she could get to stick were this movie and SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS.

I think part of the reason why I liked it is from the beginning of my life I've always had a soft spot for silly and/or ditzy blondes. While Priscilla Lane doesn't quite fit that description here, she's still not the brightest crayon in the box and she's a glowing beauty in platinum blonde hair.

Plus there's something magical about Cary Grant. Even when he's going a little nuts trying to figure out what to do with the murderous members of his family, he has this great air about him.

I sat and watched this movie with my Midget yesterday and she was just as tickled with it as I was when I first saw it. Although I saw it when I was a little older. In any case, it's one of those movies that while old... never really GETS old.

Not everything has to be realistic. I always say that when you're watching old movies it's like reading Shakespear. You can't expect John Grisham. As for the movie, it's completely over the top, but it's supposed to be. Arsenic and Old Lace, in my opinion, is Grant's best performance.

I would have to agree with the Grant comment, mainly because this was so different from everything else that he'd ever done. I like to see people stretch.

Yeah, Grant's filmography kind of makes Bogart look like a chameleon.

I liked the guy with the weird brother. There was something about him that always made me laugh.
