SCI-FI ECLIPSE ON PLANET 'DEJA VU'
When it comes to Sci-Fi/Horror/Action Flicks, PITCH BLACK (which boasts some really excellent visuals) certainly had the potential for being worthy of a 4 Star Rating - It certainly did - But - Unfortunately it got bogged way down - First, by a banal script, then by the predictability of it being just another 'ALIEN' rehash, and, then, of course, PITCH BLACK's biggest deficit was having the 'almighty' VIN DIESEL, himself, in this flick.
I'm not kidding.
From my perspective - VIN DIESEL (real name - MARK SINCLAIR VINCENT) has got to be one of the most shallow and equally irritating 'actors' (if you can really call him one) on the entire face of Planet Hollywood. DIESEL has this really terrible knack of almost single-handedly bringing any film that he happens to be in right down to the most boring level imaginable. VIN DIESEL's performances are always so frickin' dry and predictable. And I can't stand it. I can't.
And besides all of that -
It seemed pretty screwy to me that since this planet that the crew had crash-landed on was supposed to be a 'dead' planet, it didn't figger at all that these reptilian creatures, with their ferocious appetites for 'you-know-what', could've ever managed to survive for 22 years in between eclipses and meals (that consisted of human space-explorers). There certainly wasn't any indication that there was anything else on this planet for them to feed off of. Unless, of course, they fed off of each other. But that sort of a scenario would surely put an end to their own species pretty darn fast.
Anyway.....
What more can I say?
