The Odyssey of the South

A remarkable flick by those masters of screen, the Coen Brothers. This re-telling of Homer's 'Odyssey' set in the South in the 1930's is a huge undertaking that so brilliantly pays off.
George Clooney casts aside his stud persona and shows some big comic chops. John Turturro and Tim Blake Nelson and his cohorts are great in their roles, true comic timing.
This is a movie I think everyone should be, because everyone will get something different out of it. Some love it for the allusion to Homer, some for the music, some for the comedy, but it is a great film worth several viewings.

Yes, it's the music that keeps bringing me back to this film. Alison krauss, Emmylou Harris, the Soggy Bottom Boys and others in some traditional American music. Nothing like that bluegrass hillbilly music to get you toes tapping.

I am a man of constant sorrow...indeed!
