Movie Review by Andrew
September 14th, 2007

One of the best movies ever made

Arguably one of the most unique and absorbing independent films of all time. Christopher Nolan's narrative puts the viewer into the same place at Leonard in his quest for vengeance. The film runs in short (3-5 minute) segments of Leonard's experiences, but in reverse order. So a first time viewer sees things as Leonard sees them, with no memory of what happened up to that point. We are left to figure things out as they happen; using the same clues Leonard has left for himself.

The film's subtle exploration of memory, deception, and truth leave little to be desired as the story both captivates and instills a deeper sense of unease. Seven years after the film's release, fans and critics still debate what is "the truth" behind the film's plot, and that likely the way Nolan likes it. Though he has moved on to bigger projects since then, most notably the new Batman series, Nolan's talent as a director shined earlier on in his career with Memento.

Brilliant storytelling and phenomenal performances by Guy Pearce, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Joe Pantoliano make this a movie nobody should miss and will certainly never forget.
