Movie Review by Christopher Thomas
August 28th, 2007

A Modern day Classic

While many directors define their action films by how much noise they can bring to a scene, Ridley Scott shows how much power he can bring to silences.
We all know about Gladiator's great action scenes, but go back and take the time to experience how much is said in the silences.
Russell Crowe shows in his contemplation what a warrior true power comes from...a staed fast mind and a committed heart. While most action films has the hero yelling or cracking one liners, Crowe instread uses his eyes to express a smoldering rage that not enemy could conquer.
The music too is without question superior as is many of the beautiful vistas and impressive CG. While this film is not as epic or deep as Braveheart, it expresses the nature of a true warrior. And for films today, that is a rare thing.
