Movie Review by B Movie Ben
August 3rd, 2007

A faithful heart makes wishes come true.

Li Mu Bai (Yun-Fat Chow): I've already wasted my whole life. I want to tell you with my last breath that I have always loved you. I would rather be a ghost, drifting by your side as a condemned soul, than enter heaven without you. Because of your love, I will never be a lonely spirit.

It should come as no surprise to anyone who glances at my reviews that I am in love with actors like Chow Yun-Fat (Curse of the Golden Flower, Pirates 3), Michelle Yeoh (Jet Li's Fearless, Tomorrow Never Dies), and Ziyi Zhang (2046, Memoirs of a Geisha ). To have all three in an absolutely beautiful film with Oscar-winning art and set decoration, cinematography, and music, is a rare thrill.

Director Ang Lee (Brokeback Mountain) created a masterpiece. This film, and that other great film of 2000, Gladiator, took turns picking up statues at the 2001 Academy Awards. I*f you thought the cinematography and music of Gladiator were great - and they were! - then you will definitely want to check out this film.

The quality of this film can be easily quantified: Won 4 Oscars. Another 70 wins & 84 nominations. Need we say more?
