Movie Review by Tim
May 1st, 2007

Let me explain!

Do you ever watch a film and not like it the first time you saw it? Then you go back and watch it either because you want to try and give it another chance or more likely there is just nothing better on TV at the time and you end up thinking its a lot better the second time around? Well Cast Away was like this for me.

I didn't like it the first time I saw it. The only reason I even watched it again was because it was on Pay Per View which at the time we got for free and before digital cable was out the pay per view channels showed the same movie back to back all day long.

Now if you noticed I gave this film 5 stars which for me is rare. I absolutely love this film now. You really have to sit and think about how hard it is to make a film with one actor throughout 90% of the movie entertaining for 2 hours long. It is almost impossible but Tom Hanks with the help of Wilson the volleyball accomplished it no problem.

Robert Zemeckis is just a film genius. He really earned his pay with this one. This is the type of film that really makes you wonder how you would react in a similar situation. I love the way Tom Hanks talks to himself....and I thought it was pretty cool that you never know what is inside that last box but it doesn't really matter.

If you did not enjoy this film the first time around then I would strongly recommend giving it another shot. Also I totally agree with Zara about the ice skate knocking out his tooth.......it hurts me every time I watch it.

I was the same way I watched it in the cinema and wasn't impressed but on watching it in the comfort of my own home I took a 180. It was the best thing Tom Hanks had done in a long time.
