Movie Review by Sunil
February 2nd, 2008

I am a big fan of Gael García Bernal and this seemed like a worthwhile movie to watch. I have seen so many movies in my 22 years and this is the only one that made me cry out of pure pain. The movie is based a great deal on these dog fights and the good fortune it brings former loser Octavio so I expected to see some violence. However, I was horrified to tears at the fight scenes. This is not Kill Bill fun, it's gruesome and at the same time heartbreaking to see these animals rip each other apart. I liked a lot of the dialogue and thought the script was well-written but the scenes involving the dogs kept me from liking this movie. Not trying to trash a decent movie but just giving those who have yet to see it a heads up - it's not for the weak of heart. That aside, I was a bit bored through the remainder of the movie.
