Movie Review by Lisa
March 5th, 2007

Not quite Shakespear but its entertaining

A lot of people may have been wooed by the all-star cast however as a Shakespeare fan it was this that prompted me to see Michael Hoffman's adaptation.

Ok so on the Shakespeare front it was a little weak and it quickly became evident that the term adaptation should be used lightly. However after a brief moment of Shakespeare snobbery and pouting (on my part) I quickly forgot about the bastardization of good ole Will, and sat back to be entertained by a beautifully made film. The film was shot in Tuscany one of my favorite places in the world.

Even I could not escape the fact that this film was not only visually pleasing but had some of my favorite actors in it too namely; Anna Friel (if you haven't seen any of her movies she's worth checking out), Christian Bale, Kevin Kline and Stanley Tucci.....Oh and that scrawny bird Flockhart is in it too unfortunately.

So this film is not really a good rendition of Shakespeare but it is shot really well and does its job in the entertainment category.....and it way better than some of the sh*te that is in theatres at the moment, I saw skip "Wild Hogs" and rent "A Midsummer Nights Dream".
