Movie Review by Zara
May 14th, 2007

Harry Connick Jr at his least annoying

It wasn't until I developed a crush on Vin Diesel after watching him in THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS that I looked back through his film career for more of his movies to watch and discovered that he'd voiced the giant alien robot from this movie. I'd liked the movie when I first watched it, right before I got knocked up with my little mini-critic in waiting.

I must say that I find the story touching, if largely implausible. It's to be applauded whenever you have a young child with a single mother who's struggling and their relationship is shown in a positive light. And while the ultimate goal is to help her get hooked up with the local junk yard artist, they never make that the focus of the movie. It gets tiresome that the children of single parents in these kid's movies only seem to have the agenda that they want to hook their parents up when in reality, they like that they don't have to share them. Trust me - I know.

This isn't a great quality cartoon in terms of the animation when you compare it with what's being currently released, but it has what a lot of them don't have - a good story and a larger heart. In the end, that's more important than having a perfect number of pixels.
