Awesome - no, the movie, not me
The is such a stand-out flick, I don't even know where to begin. Whether it's with the understated performances by Tom Hanks and David Morse as the guards in a Southern jail or the fantastic presence of Michael Clark Duncan (who earned himself an Oscar nomination for this role).
Taken from the novel of the same name by Stephen King, the story follows not only the guards who work at the prison but also the varied prisoners behind the bars. When a large but gentle prisoner shows up one day, no one is sure how to take it. As his certain special powers are revealed, even less is known on how to take it all in.
A film with such great hope and depth that I lack the words to properly explain it all. Most definitely one of those times when an adaptation has been done perfectly right.
