Todd Gaines. Remember that name.
This was a story with great intentions directed at a stoner's pace. Following Polley's character Ronna Martin and her quest to obtain drugs and then sell them, throwing in a Tarantino wanna-be mesh of coinciding side stories and then making Jay Mohr and Scott Wolf gay, you just know that there are going to be moments where the movie can't sustain its desired speed.
Above all else, there is one really important reason to watch this movie. Todd Gaines.
A drug dealer played with delicious aplomb by Timothy Olyphant, Gaines has not only some of the most insightful observations delivered in juicy lines that I'm surprised aren't quoted more. He's crass, he's base, he's a god.
There is really no reason why Olyphant shouldn't be a major player in Hollywood. He's good looking, a great actor and well... dammit! Why isn't the man huge? (Sadly, I've been worried a lot about him recently, considering that he's starring in the upcoming Jennifer Garner flick CATCH AND RELEASE. Please don't let those people ruin him...)
I'll wrap it up with a quote (because I'm just in one of those meandering ways of mind right now and a quote sounds good):
"Wow, I didn't know we'd become such good friends, because if we had, you'd know that I give head before I give favors and I don't even give my best friends head so your chances of getting a favor are pretty f*cking slim."
Yup.
