Boys don't Cry is a love story which goes way beond the normal bounds, it is love mixed with misunderstanding and uncalculated revenge. This film describes how incredibly complex the human mentality can be. There could not have been better actors, and more real characters. The plot was refreshingly original, with such raw emotion that you can beleive everything that is happened in it. It has just the right element of violence without being over the top. It puts a new Perspective on everything especialley love, ignorance, and crime.
Hilary Swank does an amazing job, and pulls of the chalengeing role of Brandon Teena, a Girl with a Sexual identity crisis. Brandon is hard pressed to hide her true identity from a groupe of very judgemental friends, and the new love of her life, a Girl named Lana(Chloe Sevigny). Both Hilary Swank, and Chloe Sevigny got academy awards, which is quite a feat considering the emotional depth they had to convey and the intence sex scenes. Peter Sarsgaard plays the part of a double sided kind of guy, with a temper and no impulse control, but through all that you cant help feeling sorry for him. Boys don't cry should not go un watched, through all its twists and turnes it can teach an important lesson.

| The fact that is a true story makes the movie all the more poignant. |
