Movie Review by Zara
April 1st, 2008

This is NOT a lesbian love story.

At least, not from the perspective of a straight woman. The two women in the leads couldn't have been more poorly matched and by the time that they get to the body painting scene, I was rolling my eyes as they rolled around on the floor. These actresses were picked for their looks (I can just imagine an executive saying, "Make sure you get one of them to look good with short hair, and have the other one be the pretty one.") and if you can find solid chemistry with them to justify the storyline's "love at first sight" crap, then good for you.

HOWEVER... I ended up liking the film overall. For the side characters, the smaller roles and the bigger ones (the transgendered man who was a woman who was a lesbian singing the "I'm not a f*cking drag queen..." song is great) they are what make this a good comedy and a smart lesson about how much it sucks to be gay sometimes.

But romance? I just don't buy it. I was far more invested in watching anyone BUT the two leads. Don't rent this if you're looking for steamy hot lesbian action. There honestly isn't any. Again... just my straight opinion.
