Movie Review by Megan
February 4th, 2007

It is one of those movies

This was one of those movies, after watching it, I was gob smacked. I didn;t know what to make of it. It is candy coated intense. Amazing cast that real made me either hate or feel for the characters. And though it falls under fiction I feel whomever wrote it must have had some major teenaged angst growing up.

Kevin Spacey was great in it as a middle aged man lost in the burbs while facing his cliched middle life crisis but who really blew my mind was Annette Bening. Talk about a twisted soul. Such an incredibly unhappy character who projects forced perfection. Was also surprised by Scott Bakula of Quantum Leap fame. I was hoping that this movie would have had us seeing more of him..

One of my all time favorite scenes is in this movie. It is so quiet and reserved that it power and impact will almost pass you by...think of those words when you see the plastic bag scene.

It's an odd movie. Really, it shouldn't have done as well as it did with awards and all that because it was so hard to define. That's what I love best about it, but it's also the reason why most people would shy away from it.
