Movie Review by Jesse
January 4th, 2007

An amazing movie. Joan Allen was superb.

This is the most underrated film of the past decade. It's brilliant. Gary Ross is slowly becoming on of my favourite writers. With such great films like Big, Dave, this and Seabiscuit he should be receiving a lot of attention.

Ok. I am going to say it plain and simple: This film should have been nominated for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress in 1998. William H. Macy was terrific. He adapted to his character perfectly and was near-perfect.

Now Joan Allen, she was superb. She could have easily won the Oscar, but no, she wasn't nominated. A shame. This film earned three Oscar nominations in 1998, Best Original Score, Best Art Direction and Best Costume Design. With its 50s look and style, this film triumphed with nominations in the tech categories.

A beautiful film to watch, especially with the colour bursts in the black and white world of Pleasantville. Overall, this film is one of my new favourites. It's an amazing film and truly poignant. I recommend this film to everyone. Anyone can enjoy this film and take away an important message that can help change lives. It's an important film.

I love to remind people that a young Paul Walker was in this flick. Sometimes you've got to bring up stuff like that to get the skeptics to give something a chance.
