A little too dark
A movie about dolls who come to life. Where have I seen that before? Oh, yeah BARBARELLA.
Well, these are actually different dolls. They're not actually supposed to be called dolls, they're "action figures," that are owned by a little kid with a big imagination. People refuse to believe that he's telling the truth until the dolls declare a jihad on one another.
The movie could have been a lot better. (Again, this is one of those movies where Denis Leary adds some cred to it) Most of the time the violence is too intense for little kids who might have enjoyed it the most. Other times it's just to hokey for the adults who the violence is better geared at.
It plays out best as being a good 'tween movie, for those 12 year olds who like to pretend that they're older than the really are but essentially still need a kid movie. In other words, all of those brats who make The Suite Life on The Disney Channel so popular.
