This film is a quirky comedy about an off beat family raised by a single father (Alan Arkin) as told through the eyes of his cynical but sweet middle child (Natasha Lyonne) and focusing around the summer when they move to an upscale beverly hills apartment.
The story is well developed as are the characters, who all seem to remind the audience of someone they knew once. Arkin and Lyonne give great performances, as do Marissa Tomei, Kevin Corrigan and David Krumholtz. It's well shot, well written, and a far too often overlooked fun movie about family, money, and growing up in Beverly hills in the seventies.
