Interesing and Original Drama

There are almost as many things wrong with this movie as there are things right with it. It's original in the way that it's been decided to be made, telling an old tale during old times with antiquated language and yet containing current music and a youthful fair. Yet the story itself is old in the way that it parallels the Robin Hood concept of stealing from the rich and keeping for the poor.

I liked the movie without really understanding everything that was going on. Two men decide to hook up together to become stylish criminals, using the notoriety of one to gain access to parties thrown by the wealthy and decide who was the most profitable to steal from. Yet in order to maintain the look needed to get into the parties, that man spends most of the money they steal to keep up his fancy looks.

This is one of the first times that I enjoyed Liv Tyler. Her character is soft-spoken as the women of that time were required to be and yet is tough and unyielding in dealing with the loathsome male figures in her life. A great female role if there ever was one written.

I tend to recommend this movie if you're looking for something that you don't normally get a chance to watch. It's not like anything that's been released recently, even though it does lack in a solid couple of legs to stand on. But hey... some of my best friends can't stand on their own two legs by the end of the evening.
