Movie Review by Xavier
March 18th, 2007

More Than a Little Unsettling.

Lolita is technically a love story. Albiet a disturbing, slightly scary and painful love story. Not always comfortable viewing, certainly not the sort of film you would want to watch to lighten the mood but a well maid film nontheless.

The quality of the performances are superb, Jeremy Irons portraying the angst and despair in such a way that you do feel sorry and sickened for his character. Dominique Swain is also quite brilliant, she herself did not get a completely positive feedback for doing this film, which is a shame.

You may not get any extra insight into the way men and womens minds work, it could quite possibly leave you with a hollow feeling in the pit of your stomach. Lolita however, is undeniably a timeless story. This, the second incarnation and surely not the last could be a good starting point if you ever wanted to ruin a dinner party.
