Movie Review by Zara

Bizarre

A strange movie that defies any standard description, I'm not entirely sure why the filmmakers thought that anyone would swallow what they were trying to sell. I honestly feel this is the movie that Barrymore and Wilson (a couple at the time that it was filmed) made only so that they would get a chance to be together while working on the film.

The concept is that Barrymore, a girl working the drive-thru window at a fast food joint in a small town, gets knocked up by this old man. Problem is that the old man doesn't appear to have been interesting, attractive or had any money. So I always wondered how he managed to snag Barrymore. That part never sat right with me.

When the guy dies and she's left alone to raise his child, she ends up meeting Wilson, the man's grown son. Only she doesn't know that's him and he doesn't realize that the baby is his dad's.

The whole movie is a disastrous clusterf*ck. I give it a passable rating simply because of Catherine O'Hara and Jake Busey, two actors who turn in good performances with a couple of really weird characters. Only problem is that the rest of the movie is too weird around them, and not in a good way.

This really was a weird movie. This movie is the only reason that I haven't seen "Waitress" yet. The premise is too similar.

I liked this movie okay. It's just that it was a twisted story...like you said, too weird. Jake Busey and Catherine O'Hara freak me out in their roles in this flick. *shudders*
