Ah-so grasshoppa!

It sucks to be an original. Imagine being a bug, not just any bug but the kind of bug who is meant to just blend in with all of the other bugs around him, not complaining and just doing as he's told, even if he has a better idea for how to do things.

Such is the case for Flik, the inventive little ant in a line of other robotic ants. Flik is trying to come up with new and different ways to help out his hive. His ideas are before their time and unappreciated by the other ants. Well, the fact that some of his inventions backfire and bring upon the wrath of the superbly voiced villain, Kevin Spacey's Hopper.

When the opportunity to get rid of Flik presents itself, the hive votes to get rid of him. Flik goes in search of bigger stronger bugs to scare off the grasshoppers. What he ends up finding are some circus bugs. The odd mix of bugs think that they're getting hired to entertain - not to scare off mean grasshoppers.

The movie is inventive, new and fresh. The voices are perfect in almost every regard. My favorite part is Denis Leary as the ladybug. Who would have thought one of comedy's hardest comics would do such a great job in a kid's flick?

Pixar scores again.

Just 'cause I'm a ladybug doesn't mean I'm a girl! I freakin' love it when those flies are whistling at him and doing the lame cat calls and he goes up there to kick butt. That's great!
