Movie Review by B Movie Ben
May 10th, 2008

They acted alone...

Favorite Movie Quote: "Never wiser than when we're children. They say it and it's true. We'll never see things that clear again."

The conspiracy theory fanatics will have a field day with this film as it will explain what they have believed all along; simply that there is no lone gunman or lone bomber, but a cabal of anarchists that are behind all the dastardly deeds committed in this country. That cabal is, of course, composed of those who would take revenge on a government that is plotting against the people.

Jeff Bridges was quite good in his role of a suspicious neighbor, who felt that something wasn't quite right about the man across the street. he followed his hunch until he got someone killed and, ultimately, well, I can't disclose that, can I? Tim Robbins was the neighbor and he performed one of the best roles I have seen him in. But, his wife, Joan Cusack, was the real star as she hid a sinister being beneath that mask of a friendly neighbor. When that mask finally came off, you could actually see how evil looks.

The story was excellent and the pacing well done as we were kept hanging to see who would win. It was a tidy ending, but certainly not one you would expect.

For one group, it will validate their beliefs; for others, it will pose some interesting questions; for all it will entertain.
