Starship is a fun movie to watch. Made in 1997, Starship Troopers still remains as one of my favorite science fiction movies of all time. I am not at all a huge fan of science fiction films, or any kind of science fiction. There is just that one thing about Starship that keeps bringing me back to watch it again and again. It is funny, its different and it has bugs. The time is the future. Johnny Rico joins the military after graduation to become a citizen and for the love of his high school sweetheart. In the war against the bug aliens of Klendathu, the military is a very dangerous place to be. Johnny works his way through several battles and with the help of his friends and comrades, helps turn the tide of the war, and save the human race.
Casper Van Dien stars as Johnny Rico, one of the soldiers fighting this war against the bugs. He is a great actor and really does a great job with the role of Johnny Rico. Casper seems like the kind of guy who is always worried about his hair and wears muscle shirts to impress the ladies, and to get plenty of one night stands. Dina Meyer plays as Dizzy Flores and wow does Dina do a good job.
For a film made back in 1997, the special effects were terrific for the time. The effects were actually nominated for an oscar for best visual/ special effects. Most of the movie deals with effects like flying cars and spaceships, also giant bugs. There is just something about how cool looking these bugs are that keep me loving them.
There are a few disgusting moments in the movie which sport plenty of violence and more. With some men being chopped in half, burned and impaled, the violence is high here. In Starship, the future looks awesome. With spaceships and a intergalactic football game in the beginning, this future looks like comething which could be cool to see and live.
Starship Troopers is an amazing movie which deals with science fiction and humor, plus awesome effects and action scenes.
