Starship Troopers (1997)

Favorite Movie Quote: "Figuring things out for yourself is practically the only freedom anyone really has nowadays."
All the pretty people Where do they all come from? All the pretty people Where do they all belong?
Apologies to the Beatles, but that's the first impression of this film that could have been made right after 9/11. Everyone is this film is so Hollywood perfect. perfect bodies, perfect smiles, perfect attitude. Even Gary Busey is pretty!
But, all that prettiness will soon be for naught as they are thrust into the jaws of war. The government has done a good job of pumping up the hatred in the gullible and they go to their deaths willingly. After the battle of Klendathu, they weren't so perfectly pretty anymore.
It is shame that this film got sunk but the Titanic juggernaut, as the special and visual effects were far superior. Gotta love that sperm, I mean those spores shooting through the air.
One should also take note that male and female, straight and gay all managed to shower together, live together, and fight together. It's the way it should be.
It was funny, and Dina Meyer was fantastic! It was bloody and sometimes raw, but that is the way war is. it's not a bunch of platitudes; it death and destruction. Been there, done that, got the T shirt. Michael Ironside was also very good. And, didn't Neil Patrick Harris and his boys look like Nazi stormtroopers?
Now, of course, this wasn't any real semblance of war, but we won't let that get in the way. And, where was the bloody air support when they needed it?
Gotta love those bugs!
