Movie Review by Valerie
December 20th, 2006

An Oliver Stone Movie?

One of Oliver Stone's weakest films, in terms of story and appeal. Stone has the talent to make a great movie like he has before (Platoon, JFK) but every director has a weak point in his career and it's safe to say U Turn is Oliver Stone's weak point.

Sean Penn gives a decent performance and the supporting cast is not bad, but it's not what's expected in an Oliver Stone film, perhaps the fact that the director is so well-known influences this movie's bad ratings, especially if you compare it with Stone's previous works.

The story is basically a man (Penn) stranded in a strange town where he meets all sorts of strange characters, yet the movie isn't that strange as it is a little slow, drawn out and not very satisfying.

It's worth a watch because it's an interesting movie nonetheless.
