Precursor to Gattaca

Favorite Movie Quote: ""It's a sickness. You're sick. If I could cure you, I would.""

This movie gives me chills, because it's not just sci-fi - it's here. When genetic testing reveals that her unborn son might have a predilection to homosexuality, a woman becomes the focus for family upheaval. Pulled between her rather homo-intolerant family and husband, and the gay brother she loves, Susanne Stein finds herself in the difficult position of deciding what's best for the baby.

The movie shines a light on the ethical issues concerning genetic testing on the unborn. Susanne is found deciding the life or death of her child based on a prediction from those tests - and not even a definite, just a high percentage of predisposition.

It's extremely emotionally tense throughout most of the movie, and even at the end, the tension has not been completely diffused. Well worth the watch.
