Movie Review by B Movie Ben

Not a damn remake

I wish that people would quit trying to compare this film to The Day of the Jackal. There is nothing to compare. This is an original that just happens to have a similar name. Yes, the story is similar, but so is the Clint Eastwood/John Malkovich story In the Line of Fire.

This movie was campy fun with some favorite and excellent actors. Any chance to see Sidney Poitier is great, even if he really didn't have a meaty role.

Bruce Willis as the bad guy was also good. Sure his disguises sucked, but it was fun watching him, especially shooting up Jack Black in his best role. Jack Black getting shot was a hoot as he has done nothing of note to top this.

Ricrad Gere was great to watch. I only had one complaint. I thought that he should have had more of a chance to dance with Mathilda May. I mean, when they let Eddie Murphy out of jail to catch a murderer in 48 Hours, all he wanted was some trim. If Gere loved May as much as they made out, I think they could have worked this in the movie. I guess I'll have to wait until Naked Tango comes out on DVD to see more of her.

All in all, it was a great action/suspense flick. It was not a remake; it was just good fun.
